Katrina Woolverton is the kind of powerhouse singer/songwriter who can imbue a lyric with all the passion and presence it deserves. While putting the finishing touches on a new album, she had the chance to re-record an acoustic version of her popular song “Shame On Me” – a Billboard charting single she had initially released on her first album.
This stripped down version deftly peels back another layer behind the complicity gleaned in a lot of broken hearts. The bare strength of Woolverton’s natural vocal range exudes an even more surefooted aura on this version – think Etta James serving up her early ‘60s masterpiece “I’d Rather Go Blind” with ‘70s female rock stalwarts the Wilson Sisters (Nancy and Ann from Heart) being conjured up for fierceness’ sake (it wouldn’t even be a stretch to have Pink have a go at this one). The takeaway of such a bold acoustic gem: Fool me once shame on you – Fool me twice shame on…well, you know the rest.; The song transformed into an empowering calling card for an artist not afraid to deliver her vocal gift on the square; Says Katrina about the stirring new rendition: “We were working in the studio in London, cutting songs for the new album when we decided to re-record this one. “I had a number of requests for an acoustic version ever since I started performing it. The song explores the rejection and poor choices we sometimes make, but hopefully we learn from it and are able to forgive ourselves for our mistakes and move on.”

CHORUS:
ISN’T IT AMAZIN’ HOW CRAZY YOU MAKE ME BABY
ISN’T IT DISGUSTING HOW LUST MADE ME BLIND
ISN’T IT A SHAME THAT I BLAME MYSELF FOR TRUSTING YOU
