Ingredients: 1 Red Bell Pepper 2 Shallots 6 TBSP Olive Oil 1 Teaspoon Chili Flakes 12 oz Broccoli Crowns
If you love eating loads of broccoli, like me, it is necessary to find different preparations. This recipe came about from experimenting. I think it is yummy, and it passed the tasting test kitchen.
First, clean and slice the shallots. Then clean the bell pepper, cut in half to remove the seeds and stem, chop it up and toss into the pan along with olive oil, sliced shallots, and chili flakes. Cook on medium/low heat for 10-12 minutes. Stir regularly.
If you are a non-spicy person use a 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes. If you absolutely despise chili or are preparing this dish for your kiddos then go chili flake free and hit it at the end with some sweet paprika. Paprika has a nice smokey flavor without the heat that I find most non-spicy folks enjoy.
Next, allow the heat to remain at medium/low heat and add in your broccoli crowns. Cook for an additional 14-17 minutes, stirring regularly along the way.
Now your Hot Bell Broccoli is ready. Enjoy this as a side dish warm from the stove top. Alternatively, it also tastes great cold which makes it perfect to serve as a broccoli salad you can prepare the day before for a picnic or a pot luck!
