1 Blood Orange
1 Avocado
Butter Lettuce (also known as Bibb or Boston Lettuce)
Gourmet Blends Original Balsamic

I love to eat, I love salads, and I enjoy putting fruit in my salads.  There- I said it.

My Mom was telling me all about how citrus is in season right now.  So when I went to the store, blood oranges just seemed to jump off the shelf and into my basket.  It was like the whole bag was screaming “take me home!”  So I did.  Then I looked at the bag and thought “what on earth am I going to do with an entire bag of blood oranges!?”  Well, put them into a salad for starters.

Make a nice little bed of lettuce.  Butter lettuce is one of my favorites, but really any lettuce will do.  Wash and slice your strawberries, add them to the top.  Next cut up and add avocado.  I used a knife to cut away the orange peel then I sliced the blood orange to make little skinny rounds.  Toss those on top.  Drizzle it with good balsamic, I like Gourmet Blends, and your salad is ready!



PS: I think this would taste delicious with grilled salmon 🙂
